Nami East Side

Nami East Side is a community-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life for those impacted by mental illness through advocacy, education and support.

Educational Classes and Presentations. NAMI provides signature educational courses to individuals affected by mental illness and to their friends and family. Volunteers present NAMI signature programs in schools, to law enforcement and at local inpatient facilities.

Creating a Powerful Community of Support. Join a confidential mental health support group for peers, families, caregivers and loved ones. No need to RSVP. All groups are led by NAMI-trained facilitators who have lived experience with mental illness.

Impacting Public Policy through Advocacy. We empower our members in recovery to share their stories as we advocate for improvements to our mental health delivery system. We are working to improve access to care, standards of care, continuity of care, recovery, housing and rehabilitation

Mental Health Resources

According to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Health), in the U.S., 1 in 5 adults experience mental illness every year. 1 in 25 adults experience serious mental illness yearly that substantially interferes with or limits one or more major life activities. Approx. 1 in 5 youth (ages 13-18) experience a severe mental disorder during their life. 16 million adults have had at least one depressive episode in the past year. Approximately 20% of adults experience an anxiety disorder such as PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and specific phobias. Among the 20.2 million adults who experience a substance use disorder, 50.5% (10.2M) had a co-occurring mental illness.

Vulnerable Adult | Abuse and Neglect Resources

Washington State’s Department of Social and Health Services assists citizens in reporting the abuse or neglect of a vulnerable adult. You can call 1-866-End-Harm. A person will answer your call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

A person with speech or hearing disabilities may use the following ways to contact the Department of Social & Health Services:

Domestic Violence Resources

According to National Domestic Violence Hotline:One in three women and one in seven men are impacted by domestic violence in their lifetime. Advocates are available 24/7/365 to talk confidentially with anyone experiencing domestic violence, seeking resources or information, or questioning unhealthy aspects of their relationship.

Rape, Sexual Assault, Abuse & Incest Resources

Every 98 seconds, a person experiences sexual assault. Sexual violence affects hundreds of thousands of Americans each year according to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nations largest anti-sexual violence organization.

RAINN is in partnership with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
