Outpatient Behavioral Health Services for the Greater Seattle Area

The effects of a behavioral health issues can severely impact a person’s ability to carry out day-to-day activities, and these effects often worsen if the person doesn’t receive professional support.

At Fairfax, we offer clinically effective outpatient services for adults and adolescents who are struggling with certain mental illnesses. We also offer adult substance use disorders.

The two levels of outpatient programming at our Kirkland, WA and Bellevue, WA locations are a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). These programs can help people who are suffering from a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Major depressive disorder

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

  • Alcohol use disorder
  • Opioid use disorder

Adults can enter one of our outpatient programs directly or after completing inpatient programming. Our partial hospitalization program and intensive outpatient program provide extensive support in a safe and welcoming environment.

Adult Intensive Outpatient Program for Substance Use Disorder

Offered three evenings a week for three hours per session, the Intensive Outpatient Program offers adults (18+) a rigorous chemical dependency program with the flexibility to continue with their current work or school obligations. IOP includes instructive sessions facilitated by licensed substance use professionals.

Our program includes:

  • Group counseling
  • Individual counseling
  • Family counseling
  • Evidenced based curriculum including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Living in Balance
  • Court-ordered documentation and submissions, if needed

Patients will be assessed individually, and specific treatment plans will be developed with their needs and goals in mind. We teach patients:

  • Relapse prevention
  • Recovery
  • Life skills

Evening groups are available, as are virtual options of necessary.

Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient for Mental Health for Adolescents and Adults

At Fairfax, adolescents can benefit from a variety of services. We begin the process of supporting each of our clients by conducting a comprehensive evaluation.

Once we complete this process, we customize each person’s plan to provide the most appropriate care for them.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is central to the care we provide in our outpatient programming, and sessions are led by our outstanding team of therapists, nurses and registered dietitians. Groups may cover numerous topics that can be beneficial on your path to healing, such as:

  • Goal setting
  • Coping skills
  • Mindfulness
  • Conflict resolution
  • Positive affirmations
  • Forgiveness

You can expect to participate in individual counseling during your time in one of our outpatient programs. You may also take part in family therapy if your care team recommends this service.

We use two different therapeutic interventions in our outpatient programming: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Medication management services are also available for people who may benefit from certain FDA-approved prescription medications. These are aimed at helping people function better.

After an individual assessment is completed by a member of our clinical team, a recommendation of next steps will be given based on factors, including which type of disorder a person has developed. Clients may engage in outpatient care at Fairfax Behavioral Health at the partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, or traditional outpatient levels. Within these outpatient levels, treatment may include group, individual, and family therapies, as well as multiple experiential therapies. Outpatient treatment for substance use disorders and mental health concerns at Fairfax Behavioral Health Bellevue may also incorporate various evidence-based therapies including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical skills groups (DBT), motivational interviewing, and a variety of other therapeutic modalities.
