Fairfax Hospital
Nobody understands a community - or works harder to enhance it - than people
who live in it. That's the special value that we at Fairfax Hospital try to
bring to the community with our broad range of inpatient and partial hospitalization
services for children, adolescents and adults. As a service to the community,
Fairfax Hospital offers free and confidential assessments
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Fairfax Hospital has been in operation as a full-service psychiatric hospital since 1938 in Kirkland, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. The facility provides treatment services for adults, adolescents, and children, and offers a full continuum of care that includes inpatient hospitalization, partial hospitalization, and an alternative school program. The clinical focus for all services is treatment-oriented activities provided by a multi-disciplinary staff. Clinical staff provide individual psychotherapy, group therapy, family therapy, activities therapy, and educational services.
Fairfax recently added chemical dependency services to our program continuum. Addiction and Recovery Services (ARS) at Fairfax Hospital, a DASA certified Chemical Dependency Program, offers an Inpatient Medical Detox/Stabilization Model, supported by a full range of outpatient services. These ARS outpatient support services include an Intensive Outpatient Program, a Deferred Prosecution/DUI Program, Outpatient Continuing Care and Outpatient Aftercare Programs, Alcohol and Drug Information School and a Relapse Prevention Program. Initial screening for ARS services begins with a call to the Fairfax Assessment Department.
All clinical services are delivered by a group of qualified professional staff including physicians, registered nurses, mental health technicians, social workers, certified counselors, psychologists, teachers, dietitians, pharmacists, and registered recreational therapists.
Fairfax Hospital operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Administrative staff
and physicians are on 24-hour call to ensure continuous coverage, allowing for
admissions to be made at any time.
The vision of Fairfax Hospital is to be the Center of Excellence in the Pacific
Northwest for high-quality and cost-effective behavioral health care. The Fairfax
mission includes being an integral part of the greater community effort by offering
services to clients with varying levels of acuity and by assuring a continuum
of care. Coordination with a wide variety of payors is part of the continuum
of care mission.
Clinical outcome and patient satisfaction data are collected to provide treatment and quality improvement structures for patients treated at Fairfax. The goals of the clinical outcome system are to gather and analyze key data in order to:
- Ensure high quality, cost-effective care
- Continually improve clinical outcomes
- Focus on patient satisfaction
Data collection begins on admission into treatment with baseline information related to assessments of symptoms, behavior and global functioning. Assessment information is gathered again at completion of treatment. Since this project began in 1995, patient satisfaction data show that Fairfax patients overall have been very satisfied with their treatment during hospitalization.
