Community Calendar

The following meetings take place at Fairfax Hospital on a regular basis, excluding holidays:

  • Every Sunday & Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
    • Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting
  • Every Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
    • Family Support & Education Group. This drop-in group, facilitated by Clinical Therapists, provide support and education to families of patients currently hospitalized at Fairfax Hospital. It includes a brief overview of the purpose of hospitalization, an overview of the various levels of care provided at Fairfax (e.g., partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient program, free crisis assessment), and education on treatments provided at this facility. General mental health questions also be addressed. Any specific questions about patients be re-directed to the Clinical Therapist and the psychiatrist treating the patient. The main purpose of this group is to create a supportive environment (safe and confidential), where families have the opportunity to meet other families who are experiencing similar issues and to gain knowledge about mental health treatment. The facilitator(s) make recommendations and encourage the use of outside resources (e.g., NAMI) for further support. Questions may be addressed to Shahzina S.   • First Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
    • NAMI Family Support Group Meeting. Led by a trained facilitator, the Family Support Group is designed to assist family members, employers and friends of people impacted by the disease of mental illness.
